Outdoor Brand Photography Meets Real Business Stories in AK City Sessions

Hey friend! One of my favorite parts of being a brand photographer in Alaska is partnering with entrepreneurs to highlight what truly makes their businesses shine. That’s exactly why I created AK City Sessions: fun, creative experiences designed to capture your brand as authentically and accurately as possible. Rather than focusing on the city itself, these sessions are all about you—showing off your unique energy against a backdrop that complements your vision and story.

Where We’ve Been So Far:

• Fairbanks: My very first AK City Session had me hooked! I kicked things off by visiting The Great Alaskan Bowl Company, where I was able to capture the artistry behind their handcrafted products—everything from the carving process to showcasing their lively storefront. It was amazing to see how each bowl is carefully created, reflecting the care and history they pour into their craft.

Next up, I headed over to Brianna Regan’s studio for a creative deep dive—and let me tell you, it was a dream. Her space felt like stepping into a kaleidoscope of inspiration: eclectic, funky, and bursting with color, texture, and joyful energy. Every corner told a story—from the whimsical art supplies to the stacks of finished pieces, all pulsing with her signature blend of playfulness and bold expression.

Brianna’s personality shone through in every detail, making the entire session feel more like co-creating than photographing. We laughed, explored different setups, and found ways to visually capture not just her work, but the heart behind it. These kinds of sessions—where the environment, the person, and the brand all align—are exactly why I love what I do. Both sessions in Fairbanks reminded me just how much magic happens when you let people fully show up as themselves.

Valdez: Then, I packed my gear and headed to the breathtaking coastal vibes of Valdez—where jagged peaks meet the sea, glaciers gleam in the distance, and fishing boats hum in the harbor. This town is pure magic, and it set the stage for some unforgettable sessions. First up was Valdez Stay and Play, a business that lives and breathes adventure. From kayaking tours to glacier hikes, their energy is all about helping visitors experience the wild beauty of this corner of Alaska. We captured their brand in action—think sweeping landscapes, real moments with their crew, and those postcard-perfect views that make Valdez so iconic.

Next, I made my way to The Coffee Co., a cozy yet industrial café filled with the aroma of fresh espresso and the kind of vibe that makes you want to hang out all day. Inside, we highlighted their laid-back brand personality and locally rooted feel, and then took things outdoors to frame their story against the rugged mountains that tower over the town.

What made these sessions so special was the way each business leaned fully into their environment—blending brand identity with natural surroundings in a way that felt effortless and real. That’s what AK City Sessions are all about: capturing businesses not just in beautiful places, but in places that help tell their story.

These images showcase The Coffee Co.’s brand in two different ways. The image on the left invites people into the shop, where they’ll be greeted by friendly faces. The image on the right shows that you can take your drinks into nature and explore everything Valdez has to offer—while staying hydrated and caffeinated!

• Haines: Talk about small-town charm! Haines proved you don’t need a massive city to capture big personality. Every corner had a story—colorful murals, historic buildings, and, of course, those dramatic mountain views in the background. Every moment felt personal and authentic, which is exactly what my AK City Sessions are all about.

As much as I adore traveling around Alaska, what really excites me is connecting with passionate entrepreneurs who want to showcase their brand’s personality.
